PACE 2010 WORK PLAN
Dr. Yuyang Gong, President of PACE
Dear Colleagues:
To keep the continuity, the PACE management decides to make this year work plan simple and easy to follow. Presented below is a bullet list of items/activities we propose for 2010. While we have allocated the task leader(s) under each activity, please kindly offer your assistance and support.
Objectives:
1) To sustain PACE growth;
2) To better serve PACE members; and,
3) To contribute more in
Activities Proposed:
1) To sponsor a major international conference in the summer of 2010 on low carbon economy – ECO2 City
- focus on low carbon, energy efficiency and renewable, eco-city, and cleaner productions
- BOD directors
- ESD China, CAEP and others continue to sponsor
- Seek potential collaboration with others such as Feng An; but hopefully lead by PACE this time
2) A series of seminars in Major universities – Peking U, HK U, People U, Nanjin U, etc
- max contributions form PACE BOD members at universities such as
- tap in resources from ex-BOD members such as Ma Zhong,
- continue to foster future growth of membership and grass-root work
3) Membership drive and services to PACE members (Mr. Chen, VP;
- continue newsletters (Environment China) but distribute to wider communities
- seek more collaboration; 2009 has China Dialogue
- priority on merging CESPN or the like with PACE
- identify more collaboration such as south
- through website/internet services, provide user friendly registration and email services
4) Establish a full time PACE leadership position - "executive Vice President" (Gong).
- In last year plan but as a two year action item. Dr. Gong will lead preparation work.
- Under this activity, we will locate and secure an in-China office with a full time staff to carry/follow/implement BOD and Management decisions/activities (Gong)
- Secure operational fund, with a budget of RMB100K (Gong and
5) PACE Out Reach Program.
- add two programs: low carbon economy and environmental restoration (
- recruit/establish advisor committees (Gong to lead with BOD guidance)
- Continue website updates and with more information exchanges; encourage member blog use on PACE website (Mr. Chen to lead)
- Co-sponsor a summer conference in DC area with CESPN (

1) VP – potential candidate
2) Program manager – ECO2 city/Low carbon economy/circular economy (
3) Program manager – Environmental Restoration (Prof Lu of PKU Environmental Restoration);
